Fac ut facta sentiantur

The Web Master is himself a Christian as well as a professional homœopath. All true healing comes from Jesus’ sacrifice (Is 53:5; Mt 8:17), by which He reversed all the effects of the Fall of Man. If we are sick, we should ask the Lord what to do: He may want us to stand in faith for healing direct from Him. Alternatively, He may direct us to a conventional medical doctor or to a suitable complementary therapist.

It is prudent to check out both the therapy’s claims for how it works and also the therapist (Ps 1:1). Homœopathy is the only system of medicine that the Web Master is qualified in. He studied it for five years at a college in the UK. He is satisfied that there is nothing in homœopathy itself which is in any way spiritually dangerous.

There are Christians who go about - no doubt with the best intentions - warning others not to “touch homœopathy with a barge-pole”. Some of them are medical doctors, nurses and pharmacists. Among other things, they say that occult rituals are used in the preparation of remedies. Homœopathic pharmacies in the UK work to EU guidelines, and no ritual of any kind is used. The procedure of dilution and succussion does not constitute a magical rite.

Another argument used by such Christians is that, because there is nothing of the original chemical left in remedies of higher potencies, it must therefore work on the spiritual level. This is a dubious logical leap. As explained elsewhere on this site, homœopathy works on the level of physics. Additionally, consider that animals are successfully treated by homœopathy; clearly, as they have no spirits, the remedy cannot be operating on the spiritual level.

The Web Master has found that these well-meaning fellow believers claim they have ‘studied’ homœopathy. On further enquiry, this always turns out to mean they have read books or leaflets by people who were against it - and the authors of this literature are never qualified homœopaths. Moreover, these writers commit one of the cardinal scholarly ‘sins’: they rely almost exclusively on secondary, rather than primary sources.

“Test all things; hold fast what is good.” (I Thess 5:21, NKJV). The Web Master's conclusion is that homœopathy as a therapy is not spiritually dangerous. However, he would counsel you to find out about the therapist, as you may be uncomfortable with his or her spiritual stance. Much more than that, seek God. If He is your Lord, then it follows you should obey Him in all things.
